Mr. Kim brings over 20 years of leadership experiences in business and product development, financial management, and leading new ventures. His career includes a variety of executive and technology assignments in North America, Europe and Asia with Ford Motor, Accenture, and a FIAT company as well as launching and guiding several technology startups.
As a tech entrepreneur, Mr. Kim co-founded and led two technology start-ups commercializing innovative process automation solutions, and prescriptive analytics intelligence technology. Mr. Kim has successfully led new market development in the U.S., S. Korea, China, Russia, Italy and India, acquiring such customers as Samsung, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Tata to name a few.
Mr. Kim was a Controller for a $1.7B Business Unit (SBU) with 12 operations worldwide at Ford Motor, and Global Director of Engineering at a FIAT industrial company and led the development of innovative assembly and motion control solutions for next generation Corvette and FIAT 500.
Currently, Mr. Kim is a principal at K5 Velocity Ventures, an advisory and venture catalyst firm dedicated to supporting early-stage scalable impact ventures in Cleantech, Edutech, and Smart Data technology. K5 Velocity startup portfolio includes, but not limited to, an LMS venture that was recently voted Top 20 Promising Edutech by CIO magazine and a Cleantech company that successfully commercialized a nano-bubble dissolved Oxygen technology from Wayne State University.
Mr. Kim is also an advisor to Michigan State University technology commercialization endeavors, especially in the areas of Agronomics focused on sustainable crop performance utilizing Phenotype technology and smart data applications. He also serves as an industry advisor for University of Pittsburgh Coulter Translation Research Program.
Mr. Kim attended Michigan State University, where he obtained a BA in Financial Administration and the University of Notre Dame, where he received a MBA.
